These terms cover two things: reading the site, and sending us a joke. They are short on purpose.
Using the site
You may read, share and link to any page for personal, non-commercial use. Sharing a joke by text or link is what the site is for.
Do not scrape the site continuously, probe it for vulnerabilities without permission, or use it to distribute malware or spam. We rate-limit abusive traffic.
Jokes are humour. Some will not land and some may offend you; carrying a joke does not mean the project endorses its point of view. If a joke is harmful rather than merely unfunny, report it and we will look.
Submitting a joke
The submission form is where these terms do the most work. They also govern any joke you send us by email.
- You keep the copyright to your joke. You give GlobeJoke a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to store, reproduce, display and translate it, and to make light edits for the site (typos, length, punctuation). The licence lasts while the joke is published and is what allows us to show it on the site and in share cards.
- We do not sell your joke, license it to third parties, or claim authorship.
- You confirm that the joke is yours or that you have permission to share it, that it is not copied from a copyrighted source, and that publishing it does not break anyone else's rights.
- You confirm it does not contain another person's private information, hateful or harassing content, sexual content involving minors, or an incitement to violence.
- We record that you agreed, when, and which version of these terms you agreed to (currently terms-2026-11). That record is kept as proof of permission.
- We may edit for length or clarity, credit you under the nickname you give, publish anonymously, or decline the joke. There is no payment.
- You can withdraw permission at any time by asking us to take the joke down. It will be removed from the site, though copies someone already shared cannot be recalled.
Content standards
Breaking these rules can mean removal, refusal of future submissions, and a record of the decision.
- No hate speech, harassment or threats against people or groups.
- No personal data about other people: names, photos, addresses, phone numbers, workplace details.
- No sexual content, and nothing sexual involving minors.
- No content that glorifies violence, and no instructions for harming people.
- No plagiarism. If a joke is not yours, say where it came from.
- No advertising, affiliate links or spam disguised as a joke.
Takedown
Use the takedown page, or email us with the URL. We remove first and investigate after. Every removal is logged in an internal audit trail and the item's licence status becomes taken_down.
We are not a copyright collecting society or a registered agent in any jurisdiction, and nothing here is legal advice. We handle notices by reading them, checking the source record, and acting.
If you believe a joke infringes your rights, include the URL, what the work is, and how we can reach you. If we got it wrong, tell us and we will put it back.
Availability and disclaimer
The site is provided as it is and as available. We do not promise that it will be online, complete or error-free.
The source reference on each joke is a good-faith record, not a warranty. A joke may be older than the source we found, or attributed differently in another collection.
Some jokes cite external sources. We do not control those sites and do not endorse them.
Nothing on this site is professional advice — legal, medical, financial or otherwise.
Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, GlobeJoke and the people who run it are not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from use of the site, including lost data or lost time. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
Changes to these terms
Every version is dated. The version in force is the one on this page. If a change materially affects your rights over a joke you submitted, we will try to reach you at the email you gave us. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the new version. The current version is terms-2026-11, effective 2026-11-06.
